Is it time for an article V convention?

We know the people are angry enough to drive all the way to Washington, we know that regardless of what the president, congress and senate and a handful of celebrities say 80% of Americans do not approve of any healthcare bill or any of the spending already done or planned. We also know that without something to force these people to recognize the voice of the people they will pass bills that the people do not want and spend money the people do not have. There is a solution, depending on just how much power we the people have in our own states. It is called an article V convention, it requires 34 state legislatures call for one, it is usually better if the purpose is limited in scope, such as the balanced budget act, however that one although taken up by congress to stop the Article V convention was overturned by the Supreme Court. That being one more reason to call for an Article V convention.

An Article V convention would give the power to the states to make amendments to the constitution and congress has no choice but call for one if 34 states demand one. This should not be taken lightly and if we are to proceed we must agree on the cause and scope of such an action before we take it to our states. Also know that any action taken can be used by any other group once set in place. One of the main causes for concern at this point is that when one party rules the White House, congress and senate, it does not matter if the president has acted illegally because he can not be impeached unless one of his party members in congress agrees to hold him accountable. Another is that the Supreme Court has taken many decisions from the people by declaring them unconstitutional, things that the people have voted for have been overturned by a group of twelve people who were not elected and not accountable to the people. Out of control spending, people appointed to various new posts within the White House having not been elected and not accountable to anyone other than the president is another issue.

Things such as cap and trade, the healthcare bill and any bill that has the scope to change the landscape of our country should be voted for or against by the people, and limited in the amount of times they can bring such a bill forth after the people have refused it. While this is a drastic step, it is one I cannot help but believe is needed. If we are truly to take back our country this at this point seems to be the only way forward. My question to you is, is it time for an article V convention?
