Heart-ache: Florida legislator calls illegal aliens “illegal aliensâ€
Rep. Don Brown, R-DeFuniak Springs, recently forwarded a cartoon from his state e-mail account to his colleagues that read: “Don’t forget to pay your taxes … 12 million illegal aliens are depending on you!” Brown said Friday he meant the message as a joke, but it was met with a fierce reaction from many other lawmakers. He later sent a follow-up e-mail to apologize. Brown still needs to make a public apology, said Rep. Juan Carlos “J.C.” Planas, a Miami Republican and member of the Hispanic caucus. “I think he has to specifically state that he understands now that that term, illegal alien, is extremely insulting to many individuals, and I think there has to be something a little bit more public and a little bit more contrite in his apology,” Planas said.

After giving the matter some serious thought, I find nothing wrong with the comments of State Rep. Don Brown, R-DeFuniak Springs. In fact, what he says has a strong ring of truth, something that most politically correct politicians are finding foreign. Our laws, both State and Federal should be upheld. As I pay my taxes, I don’t appreciate those that spit on our laws, and literally take from me money to support their illegal status.
What we need to do is get on the bandwagon to have all illegal sent back to their country of origin, and let them apply to return the proper and legal way. If elected officials can’t uphold their oath of office to defend the laws of this state, then they need to resign. Politicians need to get their heads out of the sand, and realize this situation demands actions, not rhetoric. Rep. Brown is right on the money, and those whining about his “tax day” joke are on the wrong side of this issue. Rep. Brown owes no one an apology, but the 12-million illegal invaders sure owe the tax paying citizens, not just an apology, but restitution for what they have taken.
